Philip Elgaard Brett
Head of the Election Observation Missions Department
Candidature Motivation:
Why am I running? First and foremost, because of how great it is to work with other Silba volunteers. The dedication and passion that Silba's volunteers show in their work makes it a great pleasure to be involved, and I would therefore very much like to continue being part of this amazing organisation and community. Secondly, because of Silba’s mission. Dialogue, democracy and youth involvement is more important than it has been for a long time, making Silba’s work more important than ever. Silba creates a space for young people to engage, learn, and act across borders. Bringing people together to strengthen democratic understanding and participation is something I really believe in and want to help carry forward. Thirdly, election observation missions are one of Silba’s core activities. Working with the facilitation of these missions would be a great chance to take part in something central to what Silba does, helping make sure the missions are well-planned, that volunteers feel supported, and that our work really makes a difference.
Your Biggest Goal for the Board Term:
While it is hard to name and specify a specific goal for the coming term, one thing I would prioritise is to continue the extremely important work the organisation has done in increasing membership value to our members. Also, make sure the EOM-department builds on the good work it has been doing in recent years and making sure EOM-participation keeps being accessible for our volunteers.
