Do you want to be in the midst of this election, where Macedonians choose the future for their country? And are you interested in democracy and how an election works in practice? Then join Silba’s EOM to North Macedonia as an international observer!

North Macedonia is currently facing tensions with ethnic minorities, issues with the government administration, and questions of identity within Europe. This election will set the course for North Macedonia’s future nationally and internationally - which is why the presence of international observers such as yourself is essential to ensuring transparency and integrity of the election.

By becoming an international observer, you will:

  • Strengthen your CV while actively participating in democracy on an international scale

  • Establish new international networks that broaden your perspectives and opportunities

  • Exchange views and ideas with like-minded youth passionate about democratic values

  • Join a dynamic team committed to promoting transparency and fairness in electoral processes

  • Gain invaluable experience that extends beyond borders and contributes to a more inclusive global democracy

GENERAL INFORMATION

When: The election is set to be on the 8th of May, 2024. As we will conduct trainings and other activities prior the election, you will be expected to be available tentatively from 2nd of May to the 9th of May. Note, that this is not a final deployment period.

Requirements:

  • You are between 18 and 32 years old

  • You are available May 2nd - May 9th, 2024.

  • You are member of Silba. If you are not, you can become a member here

  • You must pass the free OSCE E-Learning course “Comprehensive Course for OSCE/ODIHR Observers” before the EOM begins. You need only to focus on the short-term observation part of the course. If you have completed the course during the last year, it is not a necessity that you complete it again. The course can be found here.

  • It is not a requirement that you have previous experience in monitoring elections or knowledge of the country or region.

The participation fee for this election observation mission is 250 euros. This covers accommodation, food, and other expenses during the program. In addition, you will have to pay for your travel expenses to North Macedonia. We would like to note that all our activities are non-profit, which means all the money will go to covering the cost for you as a participant! You won't need to pay for your participation fee during the application process; this step will come after the observers are selected.
