Summary of the project:
The project ”Second step for nature! –International youth exchange on environment protection” is 7 days youth exchange that aims to support the protection of the environment and will take place in Târgu-Jiu. The main idea is to get together 40 youngsters from 8 European countries (France,Latvia,Denmark,Estonia,Turkey,Bulgaria,Greece and Romania) to examine the Romanian experience on the topic of eco-responsibility and the different methods that can be used for the protection of the environment. The visits to the specialized organizations and the input from the experts andspeakers are to give the participants the needed theoretical and practical information for the protection of the environment. Also,the participants are
expected to share information about the situation of environment protection in the participating countries,to discover common issues,to examine the impact of human activities on environment and to show that young generation is ready to have a significant impact in promoting eco-responsibility. At the end of the project the participants will be able to carry out by themselves activities to promote environment protection.

The theme of the project is youth participation to environment protection and brings the local authorities from Gorj County,representatives from the institutions in the field or NGOs that deal with environment protection,inside the debate of the young participants. The theme regards the special need for youngsters to act against pollution that we identified in our countries. As shown earlier,due to the vast areas that environmental protection covers we will try to have a holistic approach that will allow the participants to see the “big picture” at the end of this project.

The Objectives:

- to compare the different understanding of the concept of “environment protection” on the participating countries;

- to involve youngsters from local community (this will be also the main follow-up of the project) in environmental activities;

- to disseminate information into the Targu Jiu town related to the topic;

- to create consciousness for the youngsters to create new environmental projects in the future,based on the friendships they built with people they knew and experiences they had;

- to enrich the participants with theoretical knowledge about environment protection and thus to perform team work within the frame of responsibility and solidarity;

- to see how youngsters from different countries react to various topics regarding the pollution;
